“After I consider the fanbase, I do consider these early days once we first introduced Fallout 3,” ex-Bethesda artist Jonah Lobe tells me, “We acquired a number of hate.”
“Plenty of these older gamers felt protecting of the franchise – which I can definitely perceive, because the IP is immensely distinctive and particular – and a few of that translated into hate mail and even demise threats, prompting Bethesda to rent its first safety guard,” he continues, “So yeah, definitely a passionate fanbase.
“Joking apart, Fallout followers actually care about Fallout. They perceive that the world of Fallout may be very particular, and the expertise of taking part in Fallout – with its grit, humour, selection, and distinctive world-building – is in contrast to some other. Nowadays, most Fallout followers I meet inform me that their first publicity to the franchise was by way of Fallout 3 and Fallout 4, and their suggestions has been overwhelmingly optimistic.”
