Georgia faculty scholar arrested after making bodily contact with speaker giving remarks on Israel-Hamas struggle

A professional-Palestinian scholar at a non-public college in Macon, Georgia, was arrested after making bodily contact with a conservative speaker delivering a speech on campus concerning the Israel-Hamas struggle.

Mercer College scholar Savannah Grace O’Brien was arrested Thursday by campus police on easy battery fees after making bodily contact with Atlas Society CEO Jennifer Grossman, who seemed to be talking in help of Israel, in response to WMAZ-TV.

The Atlas Society is a conservative nonprofit that promotes the philosophy of creator and thinker Ayn Rand, whose works embody Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead.

O’Brien was booked into the Bibb County Jail on Friday and launched on $650 bail.

A video of the incident posted on social media by the Atlas Society confirmed the coed, who was wrapped in pro-Palestinian and transgender flags and sporting a masks, disrupting Grossman’s speech after taking concern together with her stance on the Israel-Hamas struggle and her earlier work as senior vice chairman of fruit and vegetable firm Dole.

The scholar approached Grossman on the entrance of the auditorium and interrupted her speech. The scholar then criticized Dole’s labor and enterprise practices and put palms on Grossman.

A campus police officer was seen escorting the coed from the room after the incident.

“America was once higher than this,” the Atlas Society wrote on Fb.

Mercer mentioned in an announcement that it’s reviewing the incident and can take motion “as warranted.”

“Disrupting and invading the private house of a speaker is just not acceptable,” the college mentioned. “It’s our hope this can in the end show to be a constructive studying expertise for the coed.”

The speech was held at Mercer College’s Willet Auditorium and was hosted by the college’s chapter of the conservative group Turning Level U.S.A.

Many professional-Palestinian protests and disruptions have occurred at U.S. schools and universities since Hamas terrorists attacked Israel on Oct. 7, resulting in a retaliatory army response from Israeli forces.
